We currently offer three investment and franchise models for investors to choose according to their needs. Details are as follows:
- Capital Partnership: Investors only need to provide capital. The headquarters will arrange a professional team to fully manage all operational matters, including store site selection, interior design, license application, staff recruitment and system training. Investors are not required to participate in daily operations.
- Agency Partnership: Investors sign an agency agreement with the headquarters to obtain exclusive franchise operation rights within a designated area, taking charge of franchise promotion, store supervision and local brand implementation in the region.
- Franchise Partnership: Investors are required to have relevant experience and professional knowledge in the fresh produce industry. They will jointly participate in daily store operations with the headquarters, while receiving comprehensive support to achieve mutual benefits and win-win cooperation.
- Investors are not required to participate in daily operations. The total number of members across our three existing stores exceeds 4,700, with the flagship store achieving a member repurchase rate of 67%.
We welcome entrepreneurs and investors interested in the fresh produce industry to join us. The specific requirements are as follows:
- Recognize the brand philosophy, business model and core values of Big Brother's Fresh Market, commit to store operation, and comply with unified management from the headquarters.
- Possess sufficient capital to support store operations and allocate adequate time for management to ensure stable daily business performance.
- Willing to comply with the headquarters’ unified procurement, pricing standards and quality control requirements, and jointly safeguard the brand reputation.
- No bad credit records or history of illegal business operations, and maintain sound business credibility and integrity in operation.
Initial capital investment mainly includes the following items: franchise fee, deposit, store renovation cost, equipment procurement cost, initial inventory purchase cost, system maintenance fee, and pre-opening working capital. For reference, the average gross profit margin of our three existing stores remains stable at 30-35%, and the flagship store’s highest monthly turnover reaches HK$1.63 million. Costs vary depending on store size, location, renovation standards and other factors. The exact amounts shall be subject to the official franchise agreement signed by both parties.
The franchise contract term is generally 3 to 5 years. Upon expiry, franchisees shall have the priority to renew the contract. During the contract period, the headquarters charges a brand management fee calculated as a percentage of the store’s daily turnover. All such fees are fully allocated to overall brand promotion, supply chain upgrading and optimization, system maintenance, and ongoing operational support for franchisees, ensuring the long-term and stable operation of each store.
Two location selection options are available for investors to choose based on their needs:
- Self-selected Location: Investors may determine the store premises on their own. The headquarters will provide professional location assessment to evaluate whether the area meets operational requirements.
- Headquarters-assisted Location Selection: Combining key factors such as population density, regional consumption power, surrounding competition and rental levels, the headquarters provides professional location evaluation advice. It also assists investors in rental negotiations with landlords to reduce site selection risks.
Store size is recommended to be 800 to 1,000 square feet or above. The exact area shall be determined comprehensively based on the local population density, surrounding competition and consumer demand of the selected location. The headquarters will arrange a professional team for on-site inspections to assist franchisees in evaluating the most suitable store size, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and customer experience.
To ensure smooth store opening and stable operations for investors and franchisees, the headquarters provides comprehensive one-stop support services, detailed as follows:
- Marketing Support: A professional marketing team oversees the implementation of membership programs, point-redemption promotions and other sales activities. It provides campaign planning and material support, and centrally manages brand social media accounts to boost store exposure and customer traffic.
- Renovation & Design Support: A professional store design and renovation team will formulate detailed renovation plans and unified standards for franchisees. Construction is arranged to be completed within the rent-free period, with the fastest completion time within 45 days, helping reduce rental costs.
- System and Technical Support: Customised POS cashier systems and membership management mini-programs integrate store operations, member administration and data analytics in one platform. Existing store data shows that the average spend of members is 50–100% higher than non-members, proving the system effectively enhances customer value
- Procurement and Supply Support: Our dedicated procurement team focuses on fresh seasonal vegetables and premium pork, fully covering daily household grocery needs. On-site buyers based locally source goods directly from planting bases, ensuring ingredient freshness and competitive pricing at the source.
- License Application Support: Full assistance is provided for applying for all relevant permits, including fresh food licences, food processing licences, fresh pork sales permits, and utilities-related documentation, saving time and costs for licence application procedures.
- Store Management Support: Systematic training is provided for in-store staff, covering product knowledge, customer service skills, and standardized operational procedures, to ensure professional service quality and enhance customer satisfaction.
All business investments involve certain inherent risks. The headquarters will fully assist franchisees in mitigating operational risks through ongoing operational support, supply chain optimization and brand promotion. The key potential risks to be mindful of are listed below:
- Market Competition Risk: The fresh food retail market in Hong Kong is highly competitive. Stores will face competition from traditional wet markets, large supermarkets and other fresh food retail chains.
- Rental Cost Risk: Overall store rental levels in Hong Kong are high, and rental expenses may place certain pressure on the store’s profitability.
- Ingredient Price Volatility Risk: The prices of vegetables, pork, fruits and other food ingredients may fluctuate due to seasonal changes, weather conditions and supply chain operations, which may affect store profitability.
- Operational Management Risk: The business performance of franchise stores is closely related to the franchisee’s management capability, investment commitment and execution. Full cooperation with the headquarters’ operational guidelines is required.
